Day 5! WOO HOO!
Today I am feeling absolutely 100% fantastic. No tummy troubles, no sleeping troubles, no lack-of-sugar-brain. Seriously, this is amazing.
And so many victories today. I didn't have time to eat breakfast this morning which...ok. NOT a good victory to have. But I did grab a banana while grabbing 2 dozen donuts and 2 giant coffee vats to bring to a faculty meeting. Surprisingly I wasn't starving...well partially because I was working and focused on the meeting. But also because bananas are pretty darn filling. That and...2 cups of coffee (1 black, 1 with almond milk.) Oops!
Then it was lunchtime and today we had an all school block party where there were so many different foods it was crazy! Luckily they had a made - to - order burger truck so I got myself a beef burger patty and loaded it with veggies! Delicious!
Dinner time was turkey burgers again! Yes...I said burgerS. I had 2 patties on top of greens with sliced avocado (Again. Going to turn into an avocado.) and some puttanesca sauce. That puttanesca, ladies and gents. I could eat it with a spoon!
For dessert I am planning on making a smoothie.
How I am feeling: Well I kind of opened with that but what a BIG turn today was. I was feeling good all week but today I felt like I could climb a mountain. I have so much energy and I am so gosh darn happy. Is Whole30 a mood booster? Because if it is, who needs therapy???

Day 4 #Whole30Brain. It's a thing.
Don't let the title of this post fool you. I am feeling absolutely wonderful. But something I have run into on this journey today in particular is Whole 30 Brain. I was speaking to someone about something at work today - something I know quite a bit about - and there were moments where I forgot words! Finally I had to excuse myself and explain that my brain is a bit...out of sorts...due to my lack of sugar.
But as I said. Still feeling wonderful!
Breakfast: The usual...2 hard boiled eggs but I had them give me a side of smoked salmon! YUMMM
Lunch: Kale greens with some grilled peppers and grilled chicken
Dinner: Lots of raw veggies, fruit, some Kale salad with chicken and a smoothie (Acai Berry, chia seeds (which ARE Whole30 compliant) bananas and almond milk.
How I feel: I think I already said this but...wonderful. I feel light and energetic and I don't miss anything really. I am not craving anything to the point of wanting to cheat. I feel good and HAPPY.

Day 3 BYOSS (Bring Your Own Smoked Salmon)
Happy day 3, friends!
Today's challenges were a) waking up at 6:00 to be at work for 7:15 while still having time to get my coffee with almond milk and some kind of something to tide me over until I could grab eggs later. Success! b) Being at a luncheon at work surrounded by sandwiches, upon sandwiches, upon Cookies/Brownies/Bagels/Every Baked Good In The World. Success #2! Why? Because I literally carted my own package of smoked salmon from the office to the luncheon room. Did I get dirty looks? Yes. Did I care? NOPE! :)
Breakfast: Banana then hard boiled eggs. My tummy was feeling...interesting...this morning so I went easy. By lunchtime I felt totally fine!
Lunch: Mixed greens with cucumbers, olives, pickles and smoked salmon.
Dinner: I was feeling inventive so I browned some ground turkey in a skillet and added those roasted veggies I had last night. Then I let that simmer and added some puttanesca sauce. I poured that in a bowl and added some sliced avocado on top. It actually turned out pretty good! Next time I need to add some spices. DUH. Rookie mistake.
After dinner I whipped up a smoothie with frozen strawberries, frozen mangoes, the other half of the avocado from dinner and almond milk. I decided it needed a little tang so I half peeled a clementine and squeezed some juice in! It had a very thick consistency so I ended up eating it with a spoon and it was almost like eating sorbet!
I am feeling really really great. LOT'S of energy and aside from a bit of a tummy upset this morning, I haven't felt badly at all. I also have felt really good knowing every single thing I am putting in my body. As I peruse the grocery store, if I can't pronounce it on the label, I don't buy it. This is such a good way of living and I know I will want to continue to do that after I finish the Whole30 cycle.
More tomorrow!

Day 2
Day 2 and I'm feeling GREAT!
I woke up at about 4 AM and was STARVING but I was able to sort of ignore that and go back to sleep thankfully.
Breakfast: Hard boiled eggs and some blueberries.
Lunch: Went to whole foods and made a salad with cucumbers, tuna, tomatoes and SMOKED SALMON. I had no idea smoked salmon was Whole 30 compliant. It's so delicious I thought surely it wouldn't be but it was! And DAMN it tastes good in a salad!
After work I went shopping at Trader Joe's. Due to my snafu of waking up at 4 AM feeling like I needed a pizza, I consulted my Whole30 bud Michelle and she suggested going to TJs and getting some frozen turkey burgers. YUM! So I got those (amongst a TON of other things) and went home to happily cook an easy dinner.
Dinner: Turkey burger topped with Trader Joe's Puttanesca sauce with a side of roasted veggies (which were already roasted and frozen. Again...thank you Trader Joe's!) and some sliced avocado.
Day 2 was strong and I am excited for what's to come!

Day 1: And So it Begins!
Well friends, today is the first day of my first Whole 30 adventure. I am a pretty clean eater to begin with, save for the occasional chocolate splurge and a vodka soda here and there. But this challenge excites me. It gives me something to think about and to focus on - and in return, will (I'm sure) make me feel great.
Breakfast:
- Iced coffee with almond milk
- 3 hard boiled eggs (The lovely chefs at Cafe 24 at BoCo don't usually make hardboiled eggs so it took them a couple of tries to figure it out but they did it! And they were delicious!
Lunch:
- Kale salad with plain tuna, cucumbers, shredded carrots and vinegar
Snack:
- Cashew Cookie Larabar
Dinner:
- HUGE tomato salad with grilled chicken, half an avocado and vinegar!
"Dessert":
- Apple pie Larabar
How I feel:
I feel wonderful. I definitely do not feel like I starved myself at all but yet I don't feel overly full. I feel happy and excited for this new adventure!
